EFFECTIVE DETERRENCE WITH DESIGN FLEXIBILITY.
Guardian Bird1st ETCH glass features four different acid-etched patterns to help you achieve a wide array of looks. Patterns are applied to surface 1 for optimal deterrence efficacy, with the low-E coating on surface 2. With a choice of directional, non-directional and random patterns, you can select the one that best fulfills the design goals of the building.
A bird-friendly* façade involves give and take. In addition to choosing a product that can help provide the desired level of collision deterrence, you’ve got to weigh the importance of other factors. Chief among them is looks and energy performance. With Bird1st ETCH, the subtle acid-etched deterrent patterns have a satin-like, matte appearance. With four different patterns available, there is variety in selecting what complements a building’s architectural character. The building’s facade aesthetics and energy performance can be further configured and fine-tuned, as you can pair our Bird1st ETCH glass with many of our SunGuard™ low-E coatings and color tints. Consult our ABC approval letter for accepted options. The deterrent material is positioned on surface 1 (shown by research to be the optimal location for deterrent efficacy) and the low-E on surface 2 of the same piece of glass, reducing costs by creating a double-sided solution without the need for lamination.†
*The American Bird Conservancy defines “bird-friendly” materials as those with a Threat Factor score of ≤30.
